What is MEGABike?
MEGABike is a 29-person bicycle. This human-powered vehicle is the driving force behind social change in your community. Hop on the MEGABike with your co-workers, clients, family and friends. Enjoy a fun team-building experience while you pedal for the potential of children and youth in our community! At Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Fraser Valley, we believe in the limitless potential of every child. By teaming up with your friends to ride the big teal MEGABike, you help spark that potential in children and youth across the communities we support. At Big Brothers Big Sisters we believe that every connection counts and we see in our community and with youth in our programs that connection matters, now more then ever before. MEGABike is more than just a fun day out. Connection with your team increases morale, employee retention and opportunities for in-office mentorship. In the past year alone, the need for mentors has increased dramatically in our community. Currently more than 70 kids are waiting across the Fraser Valley for the chance to be matched with a Mentor. However, without the financial resources to increase our staff capacity, the waitlist will continue to grow and kids will lose hope. This event is vital to the agency’s ability to meet the ever-growing demand for programs.

Where will the event be held?
We have selected an amazing ride route in Chilliwack to support our Chilliwack Mentoring Programs! The ride will start on Luckakuck Way. More details to follow.
How much to participate?
Purchase a Whole Bike | MEGA SPONSOR benefits | (29 seats) for $5000
Purchase 1/2 a Bike | BIG SPONSOR benefits | (14 seats) for $3000

How far do we ride?
The ride will be approximately 3km
How long is the event?
The ride itself typically takes 20 – 30 minutes. Each team should arrive 15 – 30 minutes before their schedule ride time to ensure that all waivers are signed, prepare for warm ups, and have a team photo taken.

Do we need to be physically fit to participate?
The bike is similar to pedaling a traditional bike for 20-30 minutes! You can make it a workout, or let others do the work. While the bike is pedal powered, it’s not overly strenuous. Please be aware that you do need to be able to climb onto the bike unaided.
What do we wear?
It is recommended to wear comfortable athleisure clothing and sneakers.
What happens if there is bad weather?
We ride in rain, wind, and even snow! But if there’s lightning or other dangerous weather, the event can be rescheduled or canceled. In the unlikely event that this happens to their event, a representative from our organization will liaise directly with your team captain.
Is there a minimum number of riders?
The bike is full with 29 riders. The MEGABike is “pedal-powered,” and therefore requires about 15-20 people to get it going. If you have more than 29 riders you can register more than one team.
Is there an age limit?
For safety reasons, we cannot allow anyone under the age of 14 to participate. Anyone aged 14 years or older is welcome! Individuals aged 14-17 (or 18 depending upon the province) years can ride as long as a parent or legal guardian has provided signed permission on the waiver form.
Is this safe?
The MEGABike Challenge has multiple protocols in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
Can I receive a tax receipt?
Yes! Tax receipts for Eligible Amounts will be issued. Please fill out the required information when completing your registration.
