We reached out to our mentors for our 50th anniversary in the Fraser Valley and asked them how mentoring has impacted their lives. Kristy’s story shows how mentoring impacts the lives of children and youth right here in the Fraser Valley, especially during times of uncertainty. Kristy had this to say about her experience:
“Pam came into my life at a time I needed her the most. My parents had just split up and there were lots of adjustments and changes, and I needed someone just for me. Somebody I didn’t have to share with my siblings or be okay for, I could be myself and she truly cared! I looked so forward to my time with her, and those memories are something that could never be replaced. Our friendship has evolved to be one of the most important relationships in my life! We have seen each other through a lot of important things in our lives and are now going on over 20 years of friendship! I’m so thankful for the Big Sisters Big Brothers program and the impact it makes on people’s lives, and I’m forever thankful to Pam for taking on the big responsibility of becoming a big sister and making me feel like number 1!”
